This site provides details of all peals rung at towers which have ever been classified as in
the county of Staffordshire. It is the result of over ten years
research and is constantly being updated as peal details are researched or new peals are
published in The Ringing World.
The site is normally updated on a monthly basis and is best viewed using a medium text size setting.
The total number of peals rung to date is 10550 at 148 different towers. Full details (excepting footnotes and the methods rung in multi-method peals) are now provided for all the peals rung since 2/10/1775.
The towers section provides a running total of peals rung at each tower to date. Choosing a tower provides a list of the peals rung and if full details are held, these may be viewed.
The search section allows peals to be searched by start and end date, Association, Ringer, Conductor and Composer by name, Tower and Method.
The idea, design, collection of the data, and the input of data from January 1st 1924 to March 24th 2004 was the result of many hours work by William. J Hall, a ringer at Lichfield Cathedral. William died very suddenly in April 2004 at the young age of 44.The Lichfield and Walsall Archdeaconries' Society of Change Ringers and the North Staffordshire Association, the 2 Diocesan Societies in Staffordshire, have decided to continue William's pioneering work as a lasting tribute to his memory. William's family have given us every encouragement The site is updated regularly. Since taking over the site full peal details have been added going back to 1/10/1775, which is the earliest known peal rung in the county of Staffordshire.
